Player Welfare

Please find important information regarding player welfare below. This information should be read and applied in conjunction with Law 3.9 which states the following:

Law 3.9 - The Referee's Power to Stop an Injured Player from Continuing

If the referee decides - with or without the advice of a doctor or other medically qualified person - that a player is so injured that the player should stop playing, the referee may order that player to leave the playing area. The referee may also order an injured player to leave the field in order to be medically examined.

Please note the following upcoming events:

Saturday 24th August: Association of Referees pre-season coaching course and workshop.
Venue: Castlebar RFC
Facilitators: David McHugh, Peter Fitzgibbon
Start Time: 11.00am
This is the yearly pre season course for active referees and assessors. Anyone who wishes to referee this coming season cannot do so until they complete a workshop on the new scrum engagement. This will be the best opportunity to do so.

Sunday 25th August: Connacht New Referees Course
Venue: Galway Sportsground
Facilitators: David McHugh, Peter Fitzgibbon
Start Time: 10.00am

This is an information evening for ALL club coaches in the province. Details of new scrum engagement laws and other new law interpretations will be discussed.



Autumn International Tickets

We are implementing a new ticket request & allocation structure for international matches from season 2013/14 onwards. The system will be strictly adhered to in the interests of fairness and transparency for all members of the association. The process and ticket application form are available in the documents section of the website. (Click 'Documents' on the left hand side of the home page, then 'International Tickets')


Pre-Season Course

The 2013/2014 pre-season course has been fixed for Saturday August 24th at Castlebar RFC. More details will be released closer to the date.
